The Annals of Dermatological Research (ADR) actively supports open access dissemination of research outputs through self-archiving and repository deposits. This Repository Policy ensures that authors retain the right to deposit their work in institutional, subject-specific, and funder-mandated repositories, in line with SHERPA/RoMEO and OpenAIRE standards.

ADR encourages authors to deposit preprints, accepted manuscripts, and the final published version (Version of Record) in recognized repositories without embargo.

Types of Versions Allowed

Authors may deposit the following versions of their articles:

  • Preprint: Submitted version before peer review. Authors must acknowledge subsequent publication in ADR.
  • Accepted Manuscript (Postprint): Version accepted after peer review, but before final copyediting and typesetting.
  • Version of Record (VoR): Final published article with DOI and formatting, available under CC BY 4.0 license.

Permitted Repositories

Authors may deposit their work in:

  • Institutional repositories (e.g., university archives).
  • Subject-specific repositories (e.g., PubMed Central, Europe PMC, arXiv, Zenodo).
  • National repositories mandated by research funders.
  • Authors’ personal websites and academic social networks (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu).

Attribution and Citation

When depositing in repositories, authors must include:

  • The full citation of the article as published in ADR.
  • The DOI link to the published version.
  • A clear statement of licensing under CC BY 4.0.

Embargo Policy

ADR imposes no embargo on repository deposits. Authors may deposit all versions immediately upon acceptance or publication.

Compliance with Funder Mandates

ADR’s repository policy complies with the requirements of major funding agencies, including:

  • NIH (USA) public access policy.
  • Horizon Europe open science mandate.
  • UKRI and Wellcome Trust open access mandates.
  • cOAlition S / Plan S principles.

Publisher Archiving

ADR also deposits content in trusted preservation systems, including Portico, LOCKSS, and CLOCKSS. This ensures long-term accessibility even if the journal ceases operations.

Author Rights

Authors retain copyright of their work and may freely share it in repositories, with the requirement of citing ADR as the first place of publication.
